Magnetic Therapy Through The Years

Magnets have been used as far back as 2000 BC as a method to promoting good health.

Chinese healers were strong believers that good health depended on the circulation of energies in the body.  In writings that have been uncovered from this time, the Chinese healers described how any imbalances in the body energies could be corrected with the use of acupuncture and using magnetic stones.

 Magnetic Therapy in Ancient Egypt

In ancient Egypt we find that Queen Cleopatra wore a small magnet on her forehead to preserve her youth.  We now know that this magnet encouraged the pineal gland to naturally secrete melatonin.  Want a good night's sleep?  Sleep on a magnetic pillow!

Much research was done during the 18th and 19th centuries by noted scientists and physicians with magnetic fields and electricity.  While their knowledge was limited, they made great strides to understanding what we know today and what has become an ever growing area of knowledge.

When we first ventured into space more was discovered about magnetism and how it affects our bodies.  After some of the first space flights, we found the astronauts would have lost bone density and calcium and their immune systems became depleted.  They would need to be placed in isolation for several weeks.

It was discovered that these changes were, at least in part, due to leaving the Earth's magnetic field.  Over time, the space agencies worked with companies to provide high-powered magnets to be placed in the spacecraft.  The astronaut suits now are lined with flexible magnetic materials.  Today, there is no need for the astronauts to be placed into isolation upon their return.  The magnets have a great effect in helping them maintain their immune systems, calcium and bone density.

The use of magnets, or magnetic therapy, is now worldwide.  For countries that do not have ready access to medicines, magnetic therapy is the first way to tackle soft tissue damage. Japan, Russia and China use magnetic therapy daily in their treatments.  In more recent years, Germany and the United States are quickly catching up on the benefits of magnetic therapy.

Magnetic Therapy for Pain and Inflammation

So, how do magnets work?  Magnets works for two reasons.

1) The magnetic beads work because the iron in our blood is attracted to the magnetic field in the magnet.  As the blood is attracted towards the area where the magnetic pull is, the blood flow is increased.  When the blood flow is increased, there is a larger amount of oxygen, nutrients and hormones distributed to that area of the body. With this new and rich supply of oxygen and nutrients, any injuries or ailments that may exist in this area of the body dissipates and heals.

2) When worn regularly, the magnetism helps to realign the body's natural magnetism. One benefit of this is that inflammation in the body is reduced.  As the inflammation is reduced, so is the pain that was associated with that inflammation.

Many conditions can be treated with magnetic therapy.  The conditions that lend themselves best to wearing Therapeutic Magnetic Jewelry are Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Polymyalgia, Rheumatica, Osteoporosis, Repetitive Strain Injuries, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tendonitis, High Blood Pressure, Stress, Tennis Elbow, Reynaud's Disease, Gout, Poor Circulation, and Diabetes (Peripheral Neuropathy).

Even if you don't suffer from any of the above, wearing Therapeutic Magnetic Jewelry is still beneficial.  Some of the general health benefits to wearing magnetic jewelry are:

* Reduces bruising and swelling
* Speeds recovery in sports injuries
* Improves circulation
* Assists in removal of waste products from the blood
* Increases energy and strength
* Alleviates migraines and headaches
* Improves overall health

When purchasing your new Magnetic Jewelry, you do want to ensure the strength of the magnetic beads is powerful enough to penetrate the skin. The strength of magnets is measured in gauss.  You want to make sure to only wearing jewelry with 800 gauss or greater. Any less and it is likely you will not receive any benefits provided by the magnets.  If the gauss is greater than 800, you should receive even greater benefits. There is no need to be concerned about the gauss being too high as magnets are safe and do not have any adverse side effects.

Please be aware that magnetic therapy does not CURE ailments.  It is only used to treat the symptoms of a particular ailment.
